Welcome to Middle Age

Got the call last night; the emergency center where I work is severely short-staffed today for various reasons, so I’m going in to work, right after physical therapy. My older son’s housemates have bailed on him last-minute, so he and a buddy have to find a new place to live, preferably in their district, double-quick. This means more urgent need for first month, last month and security deposit than they expect to be able to cope with. My sisted texted me this morning that our 87-year-old dad is in the hospital again, with severe pneumonia and vomiting, so I have told my younger son to pack a bag, just in case. My husband is off to a conference this weekend. Bayen plays Real Madrid in the Champions League today, and the pundits are all over Real.

Anxiety level: all about me.

So, here are some pretty pansies. In the sunlight, they’re so dark they’re almost black! Maybe it’s bad Feng Shui, but I put them out in front of the house because I just love them.

Mia san mia, y’all.

While we’re on the subject

As a soccer fan, I would be remiss not to give a shout-out to Arsene Wenger, who announced that he would be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season. He’s had 22 (mostly) good years with the team, and even though towards the end he became the butt of one of the world’s greatest in-jokes (spot the #WengerOut sign), he deserves all admiration and respect.

Meanwhile, in Munich, Manuel Neuer trained with the team today, for the first time in forever. Thomas Müller and Sven Ulreich have done amazing jobs deputizing this year, but it’ll be great to have our Captain and #1 Goalkeeper back!
